Members of the Blaine Scholarship Foundation are enthusiastic about helping graduating Blaine High School Seniors further their education and to become an outstanding member within the community they live. The board members donate time and energy each year to host a golf tournament, which is their only fundraising event. This is done by collectively talking to local businesses and community members asking if they would like to help support our event. This can be done by making a monetary donation, donating an item to be raffled off at the golf tournament. We look to community members to help volunteer, provide items for our raffle and businesses to support our event so that we can continue to provide valuable scholarships to these deserving seniors. If you would like to know more about our charity organization or would like to consider becoming a member, please contact us by email at blainescholarshipfoundation@gmail.com

I moved to Blaine in 1974 where I started my 30 year teaching career in the Blaine School District. My original plan was to only stay in Blaine for one year, but I fell in love with the area and the great people of this community and I have now lived here almost 50 years. My favorite things to do are fishing, crabbing, shrimping, hunting and golfing. I, also, like to watch the Seahawks and the Mariners. Blaine has been a great place to live, work and play.

Greg is a history buff; you can find him at one of the local Birch Bay establishments playing their version of Jeopardy one night a week. In Greg’s free time, he enjoys golfing, being on the water crabbing, but family and friends are number one.

As a kid growing up in New England, sports meant everything to me. I was able to play competitive soccer, squash and tennis in High School and College, and have served as a youth soccer and hockey coach for most of my life. Following college and a stint in the US Army, I worked for Pan American Airways who transferred me to Seattle. Marriage (now 55 years), two daughters, and graduate studies followed, and I wound up as a career educator, splitting time between middle school history teaching and administrative duties. I retired in 1999, found it totally boring, and returned to working in various capacities (Currently, Blaine Harbor Music Festival) with and for kids which is where I am today. I am honored to be associated with the Blaine Scholarship Foundation, helping high school graduates move onto the next steps in their training for fulfilling lives. BTW – My mother, who was an avid golfer, taught me the game and played well into her 90’s!
